Gaze into our crystal ball for what we can expect in the vape industry next year
November 12, 2014
The vape industry has certainly had many highs this year…and the thriving eCig shops across the country are the proof in the pudding! With that, we’ve also seen our fair share of BS – FDA regulations ruining our day, Paypal cramping our style, and banks all around acting like little punks. It’s a wonder that any vape shop ever got off the ground. But we shall persevere!
The best way to combat the negative aspects of the industry is to be ready for it when the sh!t hits the fan. So! To help us out with that, we’ve asked our pal Steve K from the ever-popular SteveVape.com to provide us with his list of things we can expect to see next year.
Here are Steve’s top six industry predictions for 2015!
Expect local battles to continue to heat up. The prohibitionists will move from use bans to flavor bans and taxes. Conditional use permits for vape shops will become increasingly difficult to secure.
The FDA will release its proposed regulations for e-cigarettes. However, this will likely get caught up in red tape, and possibly a lawsuit delaying practical implementation through 2015.
Meanwhile, in the EU, Totally Wicked’s challenge to the TPD will fall short, developing nations will increasingly flat-out ban vaping thanks to the WHO’s efforts!
There will be an e-liquid health scare of some sort or another due to a specific ingredient in certain liquids. The media will greatly exaggerate this issue, of course.
Traditional e-cigarette market share will continue to dwindle in favor of midrange devices. Big Tobacco may eventually fall into line finding their shameless attempts to get open systems banned leave them embarrassed.
Areas oversaturated with local shops may start to see some consolidation in the latter part of 2015 as a result of simple supply and demand as well as political problems (see item 1).
Remember friends, forewarned is forearmed. We wish you all the success in 2015!
